Description
The Timing Belt-in-Oil (BIO) have been included in the Dayco product line to offer the market a solution for any type of synchronous transmission.
The wet belt, better known as the Belt In Oil (BIO) was introduced by Dayco in 2007.
Timing Belt-in-Oil (BIO), which includes Dayco’s patented belt and tensioner, reduces friction and is quieter than traditional chain-driven components.
Built inside of the engine and in direct contact with engine oil, the Timing Belt-in-Oil (BIO) also reduces engine packaging, resulting in fewer individual components and lower weight.
Section of a BIO belt:
- Resistance insert (K-glass / Hybrid)
- Compound body (HNBR, fiber loaded)
- Tooth covering fabric (PA66+Aramid, full Aramid) + PTFE skin
Main advantages and features of the Timing Belt-in-Oil (BIO):
- Use of innovative and cutting-edge materials
- High robustness and proven reliability on test benches and vehicle fleets
- Reduced coefficient of friction with relative reduction of energy losses (reduction of consumption and pollution)
- Optimization of the belt and pulley profile for NVH reduction (Noise, Vibration and Harshness)
- Synergic design of the entire BIO transmission system (belt, guides, tensioners, idler pulleys, pulleys) and not of the single component
- Low friction loss compared to chain
- Less fuel consumption (up to 2.5% less compared to chain)
- Less CO2 emission
- Low noise emission compared with other drive system
- Reduced elongation during life
- Fewer assembly components
- Design flexibility
