Elementele principale care caracterizează pompa sunt:

Componentele comenzii auxiliare trebuie să corespundă exigenţelor producătorilor, printre care:
- Spaţiu de lucru mereu mai redus
- Presiuni înalte de injecţie
- Temperaturi ridicate
- Solicitări înalte
- Creşterea duratei intervalului de înlocuire a componentelor
Din aceasta rezultă că atât dispozitivele de tensionare cât şi fuliile sistemului trebuie să îndeplinească cerinţe extrem de înalte privind calitatea.

Tipurile de bază ale componentelor rigide sunt:
- dispozitive automate de tensionare. Sunt întinzători dinamici, deoarece odată instalaţi sunt capabili să se adapteze şi să optimizeze tensiunea curelei în funcţie de solicitările motorului, în toate condiţiile de funcţionare.
- Role de ghidaj. Sunt fulii cu sau fără ghidaj care să permită îndrumarea corespunzătoare a curelei pe traiectoria sa. Ele sunt extrem de importante, deoarece preiau o mare parte din solicitările sistemului.
