Poly-V belts are designed for auxiliary transmissions on the main agricultural tractors. The increasing number of accessories (air conditioning, power steering pump, alternators, water pumps, vacuum pumps, etc.) and operating temperatures of up to 130°C in extremely dusty environments, have made the updating of materials and manufacturing technology crucial.

The Dayco HT Power Carbon synchronous belt structure has the best combination of advanced and innovative materials for the most demanding applications. It has a hybrid cord made from a combination of glass for high chemical compatibility with HNBR compound and carbon fibers for high mechanical resistance of the belt as well as high precision meshing of the teeth in the sprocket grooves. The polymer compounds used in the belt are combined with aramid chopped fibers to offer improved stiffness and designed to provide extreme resistance to mechanical stress, elevated temperatures and aggressive fluids and chemicals. With excellent dimensional stability, strength and flexibility, along with low noise and low friction, it is meant for high load performances, offering the best in shock load resistance and the highest temperature resistance, -22°F (-30°C) to 266°F (130°C). Heavy-Duty Banded Belts

Designed for applications where the OE pulley design requires the use of two V-belts joined together with a common backing.

Dayco banded V-belts offer the increased strength needed for heavy-duty applications requiring a banded product. The banded V-belt’s raw edge construction, three-ply laminated fabric and EPDM design ensure superior gripping power while the bottom cog construction provides extreme flexibility and cooling. By combining two belts using the common backing process, Dayco banded V-belts greatly reduce the tendency for single belts, which when subjected to fluctuating load tensions may come off or turn over in multiple pulley drives.

Water Pumps Agricultural Applications

The engine cooling system stabilises the engine operating temperature by limiting the rise above the expected limits. The coolant is circulated by the water pump, which must ensure the correct flow at each engine speed.

Incorrect operation of the water pump can cause significant damage to the engine. For this reason it is extremely important that the water pump is systematically checked.

In many applications, the water pump is controlled by the timing belt. Therefore, the control of the water pump and any replacement during maintenance to the timing control system is extremely important.

The major elements that characterize the quality of Dayco water pumps are:

  • The bearing supports the impeller on one side and the pulley on the other side. This element must ensure constant smoothness and withstand the loads generated by the system. It can be a double ball bearing or a ball bearing (impeller side) and a roller bearing (pulley side). The determination of the bearing geometry is made by the engine manufacturer according to the loads generated by the system.
  • The impeller, made of synthetic material is reinforced with fibreglass, steel or cast iron. The profile of the impeller blades is very important and ensures the correct flow to avoid cavitation effects. The complex design allows for a constant flow of liquid at all engine speeds.
  • The seal is mounted between the impeller and the bearing. At all operating temperatures and speeds, the bearing must guarantee the seal of the liquid to prevent it from entering the bearing, compromising the lubricated grease qualities and causing irreversible damage to the pump.

Another important element is the pump body: generally, in plastic or aluminium depending on the manufacturer’s choices. The pump body must guarantee the correct stiffness and geometry of the system.

Tensioners and Pulleys Agricultural Applications

Higher engine performance and the continuous increase in the number of auxiliary components have led to a significant development in the design and choice of materials for all rigid components.

Rigid components must conform to manufacturers’ requirements, including:
