Years ago, belts were made with a Neoprene rubber compound that failed much more quickly than today\u2019s serpentine belts, which are made with EPDM (Ethylene Propylene Diene Monomer). Most OEMs recommend serpentine belt inspections around 60,000 miles and service around 90,000 miles.<\/p>\n

Prevent Vehicle Comebacks and Reduce Engine Noise Issues
\n<\/strong>Changing all front-end components at the same time helps prevent comebacks, reduces noise issues, and enhances overall system performance. If a technician only replaces the belt, the driver may experience issues with a loose tensioner or pulley within weeks, and may end up needing to replace the belt a second time due to premature failure. For instance, worn tensioners can cause belts to slip and therefore glaze, destroying a new belt. Worn parts can also cause slippage on the alternator, prompting a \u201ccheck engine\u201d light. A pulley with a worn bearing can cause misalignment, belt noise and wear, and a worn tensioner damper can set off false misfire codes.<\/p>\n

Pulleys, tensioners and serpentine belts work harmoniously and experience wear and tear at a similar rate so replacing them together will allow for more enhanced performance.
