Dayco Products, LLC, a Tier-1 supplier of engine and powertrain systems, seeks a Commodity Manager in Troy, Michigan, for fast-paced new market growth for OEM, aftermarket, and industrial applications.  National and international travel to supplier and production plants 40%.


develop global purchasing strategies for elastomeric, and engine and powertrain (E&P) components, to include application of standard purchasing practices (benchmarking, negotiation, cost analysis, and leverage application) to identify and implement cost improvement initiatives; evaluate (through review of delivery, quality, and service performance) and select supplier panel; manage supplier relationship to company, and develop action plans to increase supplier leverage and performance; review and analyze product engineering design changes for E&P components and their impact on supplier product and program costs, while considering international currency fluctuation and global commodity pricing; draft bid requests and identify potential product standardization; participate in deliverables APQP activities and develop functional specifications for E&P components vendor capabilities; implement VA/VE processes to increase productivity; report (monthly and quarterly) purchasing activities relating to cost, lead times, and quality objectives; negotiate and implement supplier contracts and letters of intent for E&P components.  Minimum education required:  Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Supply Chain Management, Mechanical Engineering, or Industrial Engineering or foreign equivalent degree.

Minimum experience required:

2 years’ work experience in a supply chain management or purchasing management position with a Tier-1 supplier of E&P components.

Special skills required:

Must have 2 years’ work experience in each of the following:  analyzing engineering drawings and specifications for product changes that impact program cost due to changes in injection molding, rubber compounds, and casting processes; managing material requirement planning process for E&P components, from customer forecast to production planning, bill of material list, supplier requirements, and inventory management; negotiating multimillion dollar contracts for E&P components; evaluating and selecting logistics and transportation modes for national and international shipment of engine components; implementing international vendor cost-saving techniques for E&P components; developing best-landed cost analyses and cost transparency models for E&P components, considering global economy and cost structures; developing and performing SWOT analyses to assess internal and external environmental factors on each commodity.  Must have 1 year’ work experience administering CTPAT program.  Experience may be acquired concurrently.
