Summary:

The Dayco Technical Training Lead will lead, develop and effectively execute Dayco’s new Technical training program. This person will work closely with Dayco Product, Marketing, and Sales teams, to ensure we deliver best in class training in Dayco core product categories.   The duties of this position include but are not limited to working directly with repair shops and service technicians in both a classroom and shop setting, as well as developing and delivering alternate training methodology including video and internet web based training.   This role will typically have 1-2 Technical Trainers reporting into it.

Principal Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Define the training needs of the aftermarket customer base and the internal sales team
  • Benchmark competitors training and create programs that put Dayco on par or better than our main competitors
  • Develop and facilitate Dayco training solutions for internal field team and external customers
  • Prepare, conduct and evaluate product training sessions utilizing both traditional and on-line solutions
  • Utilize VOC (voice of customer) and VOF (voice of field sales) input for definition and development of new training programs and concepts
  • Continuous improvement and modification of training programs to stay current, effective and relevant for training needs
  • Assist the Dayco field team in the customer clinic set-up process – ensuring that the field based training is based on input from Dayco’s sales leaders
  • Train any regional Dayco trainers on presentations and works with field trainers to reflect consistent and professional messaging across all regions and customer channels
  • Establish metrics and develops post-training surveys, make according changes and upgrades to the program as well as report out survey results and attendance trends
  • Consult with major customers to help them understand and utilize technical training for the benefit of their installer customers and Dayco
  • Manage Dayco national training schedule
  • Provide training feedback to Dayco Corporate Sales & Marketing
  • Travel up to 50%

Education, Skills & Experience:

  • Minimum of an Associate’s Degree
  • Minimum of 5 years in training development and delivery
  • Must have at least 7 years of experience working in automotive aftermarket channels of distribution in a technical role
  • Adobe software and video editing experience preferred
  • Solid foundation and understanding of automotive repair; has or able to obtain ASE certification; prefer some experience as professional tech
  • Must be extremely comfortable and capable of speaking to a group of people in order to train and present (internally/externally)
  • Knowledge of Dayco products as well as competitor features and benefits preferred
  • Demonstrated history of  being a self-starter and follow through on projects and goals
  • Ability to be persuasive, adaptable, motivated and goal-oriented
  • Ability to travel 50% of the time
