Dayco has an exciting job opportunity for an Aftermarket Product Manager position to be located in Troy, MI. The Aftermarket Product Manager sets priorities, plans, develops, and brings to market a specific group of automotive, heavy duty, Snowmobile/ATV, and industrial products. Working closely with sales, engineering, manufacturing, purchasing, logistics, and external suppliers to add parts that will maximize our market penetration for each product line, for all regions.

Key Responsibilities of the Aftermarket Product Manager:

  • Using analysis reports from the catalog database, application engineering, and other sources, identifies new products to be added to our heavy duty, and industrial product lines
  • Be a trends expert in Dayco product categories, including market pricing, competitive product, gap analysis and industry trends
  • Regularly analyze and report sales, POS and inventory data
  • Periodically reviews and compares the product offerings with our competitors; and, adds parts to keep the product lines complete and superior to the competition
  • Continually searching for new products to add, by talking with suppliers, reviewing publications, and knowing what the competition is selling, to insure Dayco’s competitive position in the automotive and heavy-duty aftermarket
  • Reviews data to identify new automotive/HD parts, and makes decisions to add new replacement part numbers by analyzing VIO, failure rates, competitive offerings, and market share
  • Determines the selling price and a demand forecast for new parts; and, completes all steps to release the parts
  • Coordinates with engineering and Dayco manufacturing to get part specifications in place and product set up for production
  • Develops engineering and product manager contacts with our suppliers to help find and release the products needed to complete our product offerings
  • Reviews the product lines for possible deletions or supersessions
  • Reviews pricing on the product lines for price increases and price sheet updates
  • Defines the product packaging requirements for the product lines managed
  • Verifies that PIES data is identified and loaded for all parts in the product lines managed
  • Assisting internal and external customers regarding product questions and issues
  • Working with Sales, Customers, Engineering, Purchasing, and manufacturing locations to complete RFQs for the product lines managed
  • Strengthen the customer relationship through creation of scheduled category management activities, including joint business planning
  • Provide the sales team with the necessary technical, market and competitive expertise to enable them to successfully sell and grow the product line both with current and new customers
  • Partner with marketing department to increase awareness through communications regarding new products throughout the organization, sales force and customer base
  • Manages and directs team members through demonstrated leadership to achieve organizational goals and optimum performance.

Required Qualifications of the Aftermarket Product Manager:

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in automotive aftermarket
  • 5 plus years of experience in Product Development/Management
  • 5 plus years of experience with automotive aftermarket product management
  • Requires a thorough knowledge of Aftermarket Heavy Duty and Automotive product lines, markets, customers, competitors, and both internal and external suppliers
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite – particularly Word, PowerPoint and Excel
  • Must possess strong interpersonal, motivational, and project management skills
  • Excellent writing, verbal presentation, planning, and time management skills with a strong ability to develop and deliver technical presentations
  • Very strong leadership skills to mentor and motivate team members

Preferred Qualifications of the Aftermarket Product Manager:

  • Technical degree in Engineering (or similar) highly preferred
  • Passion for the automotive industry
  • Knowledge of Product Lines Belts/Tensioners/Hoses/Pulleys
