Because engine system cooling plays and integral role in emission and fuel efficiency, Dayco is developing a range for water pump clutches that will further increase performance, reduce emissions and improve fuel efficiency. The water pump clutch development comes on the heels of successfully industrializing highly innovative water pump actuators and friction drive wheels. Together these selectively actuate and engage water pump operation to manage heat generation in the engine. Our unique approach is broadly applicable, but is especially effective in accessory drive system that require tight packaging. By disengaging water pump drives and flows at appropriate running times, our friction wheels boost engine efficiency, which leads to reduce emissions and improved fuel economy.
